Terms and Conditions

These Terms govern your access to and use of https://aebits.win (the "Service"), operated by AEBits ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About the Service

AEBits is a hobby project providing tools and rank-tracking related to Astro Empires. It is not endorsed by or affiliated with Astro Empires. The Service is offered free of charge to all visitors. AEBits+ is an optional donor account tier with cloud-synced features for people who choose to support the project.

2. Accounts

You can use most of the Service without an account. To create an AEBits+ account, you must have previously donated via Ko-fi or PayPal using the same email address. You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information at signup.
  • Keeping your password confidential.
  • Activity that occurs under your account.
  • Being at least 16 years old.

Notify us at [email protected] if you suspect your account has been compromised.

3. Donations and AEBits+

Donations to AEBits are voluntary, one-time, and final. They are processed by Ko-fi or PayPal under their respective terms. Donations are not purchases of a product or subscription and are not refundable. AEBits+ features are provided as a thank-you for supporting the project, may change over time, and may be modified or removed without compensation.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in a way that disrupts, damages, or impairs it for other users.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or to non-public parts of the Service.
  • Scrape, harvest, or extract data from the Service at unreasonable volumes or in violation of our rate limits.
  • Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others.
  • Use the Service for advertising, marketing, or other commercial purposes without our written permission.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code for parts of the Service that are not open source.
  • Use the Service in violation of applicable law.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section. Where practical, we will give notice and an opportunity to correct the issue first.

5. Your Content

If you save data through the Service (for example: named Battle Calculator presets, pinned rankings, dashboard preferences), that data belongs to you. We store it on your behalf to provide the feature. We do not claim any ownership of it and we do not look at it except as necessary to operate the Service.

You can export your saved data at any time from your Account Settings (GDPR Article 20). Deleting your account removes it from our production systems.

6. Termination

By you. You can delete your account at any time from Account Settings → Delete account. Deletion removes your account, sessions, saved presets, dashboard pins, and pending tokens from our production database.

By us. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if continued operation of the Service is no longer viable. Where practical, we will provide notice and a reasonable window to export your data first.

Shutdown. AEBits is a hobby project. If we ever wind it down, we will give existing users reasonable notice and a final opportunity to export their data.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third parties (currently Ko-fi, PayPal, Resend, DigitalOcean, Cloudflare, PostHog, and Google) for payments, email delivery, hosting, CDN/DDoS protection, optional product analytics, and optional screenshot text recognition. We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their content, policies, or availability. The relationships between you and each of them are governed by their respective terms. 8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, or secure. The Service's calculators, rank data, and predictions are informational; relying on them for in-game decisions is at your own discretion.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AEBits and its maintainer(s) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any direct damages will not exceed the greater of CAD $50 or the amount you have donated to AEBits in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought before the courts of Alberta, Canada, unless your local consumer-protection law mandates otherwise.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced in the release notes. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remainder will continue to apply. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and AEBits regarding the Service.
